Influenza Vaccination Locations for TPMG Patients
As we navigate through the 2020-2021 flu season amidst the coronavirus pandemic, it is important we share a few reminders:
Vaccines provide protection against diseases and infection. The flu is a contagious respiratory infection caused by the influenza virus. The composition of the U.S. flu vaccine is updated and reviewed annually to match circulating viruses and is composed of three or four viruses that research suggests will be the most prevalent. It is ever so important for adults, children, and our elderly population to receive this year’s flu vaccine. This is primarily because symptoms are similar to COVID-19 and could eliminate confusion over a misdiagnosis. Ensuring people continue to receive routine vaccinations during the COVID-19 pandemic is critical for protecting our vulnerable populations from preventable disease outbreaks. Additionally, there is a risk for an individual to become sick with both the COVID-19 virus and the flu virus, which could lead to increase severity of illness or hospitalization.
