LOCATION INFORMATION

Founded in 1979, Chessen & Associates in Newport News, Virginia, was a private group practice specializing in mental health counseling. TPMG announced Chessen & Associates joined our team of professionals in June 2015 as Chessen Behavioral Health. On June 30, 2017, Dr. Douglas Chessen retired and the practice became TPMG Behavioral Health. TPMG later welcomed Dr. Kenneth Richmond, board certified psychiatrist.

Individual psychotherapy involves regularly scheduled talks between the patient and one of our mental health professionals. The sessions may focus on current or past problems, experiences, thoughts, feelings or relationships. By sharing experiences with a trained empathic person, individuals may gradually come to understand more about themselves and their problems.

Family and Marital Therapy

Family and marital therapy focuses very clearly on the relationships involved, and by involving all the people concerned, seeks to help those relationships work better.
