How or why did you get started in the fitness/wellness industry?
I started gaining an interest in the Fitness and Wellness industry when I was 16 years old. I had been a competitive dancer for 5 years and was going through knee, wrist, and hip pain. I was also studying nursing in high school at the time, and so learning about human anatomy and health while going through physical therapy and being in tune with my body as a dancer, I knew I wanted to pursue something in the health and wellness field. I also love taking care of people and helping them in that aspect.
I studied Nursing and Kinesiology in college, graduating from Old Dominion University with my Bachelors in Kinesiology. After earning my degree, I started working with geriatrics, cardiopulmonary patients, memory care and Parkinson’s clients.
What is your training philosophy?
Never stop trying to better yourself.
What makes you different from other professionals in the field?
I listen to what my clients are telling me, and I really watch their facial expressions during the exercise, making sure there is clear communication. I also enjoy working with Parkinson’s, Cardiopulmonary clients, and anyone who needs help with balance and gait.
Favorite exercise and why?
Dancing. I danced all my life and without it I would not be the same person I am today. It’s my stress reliever and what I do when I am happy.
