BIOGRAPHY

Family Medicine Doctor in Newport News, VA

Apostolos “Paul” Hiotellis, MD, is a board certified family medicine physician in Newport News providing care to patients of all ages at TPMG City Center Family Medicine.

A graduate of the University of Virginia with dual degrees in biology and biochemistry, Dr. Hiotellis continued his education at Eastern Virginia Medical School, earning his medical degree in 2005. He completed his residency in family medicine through the Riverside Family Practice Residency Program in Newport News, Virginia.

Dr. Hiotellis developed an interest and passion for family medicine during his residency training at a local family medicine office with a well-respected physician. Witnessing the physician’s commitment to long-term patient care and the special relationship a physician and patient develop over the years were deeply influential in his decision to pursue family medicine.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Hiotellis takes a special interest in the treatment and management of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and preventative medicine. He approaches treatment and care by considering all aspects of a patient’s physical and mental wellness to promote future health and optimal quality of life.

The values of hard work and dedication have been guiding forces in Dr. Hiotellis’ life since childhood, instilled by his family. Within TPMG, he serves on various committees focused on advancements and improvements to the patient experience and currently serves as the chair of the Clinical Transformation Committee.

A Virginia Beach native and the son of Greek immigrants who came to the United States in the 1970s, Dr. Hiotellis now resides in Yorktown, Virginia. He is married to Dr. Ruth Innes, a hospitalist with the TPMG Hospitalist Division at Mary Immaculate, and together they have two sons. When he is not at the office, Dr. Hiotellis enjoys time with his family, watching movies, reading, and traveling to new places.
