Dr. Baher A. Basta received his undergraduate degree from the University of London, England, and his medical degree from the University of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Basta completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Eastern Virginia Medical School on the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital campus in Norfolk, Virginia, and had an academic appointment as Instructor of Medicine and Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at EVMS.
Dr. Basta practiced for seven years with Bon Secours Healthcare in Suffolk, Virginia. He then completed his Nephrology fellowship at University of North Carolina Kidney Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Dr. Basta is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physician Executives, American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, and Renal Physician Association. He has presented many abstracts at local and national meetings.
TPMG Nephrology provides high quality kidney disease care for adults and young adults over age 16. Services offered include early disease detection, attempts at slowing progression and care for later stages of chronic kidney disease, when it becomes necessary. Dr. Basta's special interests include the management of diabetic renal disease, hypertension, glomerulonephritis and electrolyte imbalance.
Dr. Basta joined TPMG Nephrology in 2016. He welcomes new patients to his practice.
