Pediatrician in Newport News VA
With over twenty years of experience as a pediatrician, Carol M. Steiner, MD, has had the pleasure of caring for patients from the first days of life to young adulthood.
A premature infant herself, Dr. Steiner’s experience with a devoted pediatrician inspired her to enter the medical field. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and earned her medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. She then completed an internship and residency through David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in California.
After completing her residency, Dr. Steiner worked at multiple Air Force bases overseas for five years as a staff pediatrician. Upon returning to the States, Dr. Steiner served as Chief of the Platinum Clinic and later as Medical Director of the Bethel Clinic at Langley Air Force Base (AFB) in Hampton, VA. After a decade with Langley AFB, Dr. Steiner retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force Reserve.
Dr. Steiner has since continued her medical practice at pediatric clinics throughout Hampton Roads. In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Steiner was an instructor at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) where she taught and mentored nursing students. She is board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Steiner finds it most rewarding to care for her patients as they grow into young adults and become parents themselves. As a healthcare provider, Dr. Steiner is passionate about caring for her patients when they are ill, supporting them when they are well, and answering any questions they may have along the way. She also has a special interest in treating patients with ADHD and asthma and promoting healthy and active lifestyles for her pediatric patients and their families.
A wife and mother of two boys, Dr. Steiner enjoys spending quality time with her family and preparing healthy gourmet dishes. She also enjoys the outdoors and experiencing the mountains, beaches, and Virginia’s beautiful seasonal weather. She is an active member of her church and the Boy Scouts of America.
TPMG welcomed Dr. Carol Steiner to James River Pediatrics in February 2019.
