Family Practice Physician in Newport News, VA

John E. Brady, MD opened his medical practice, TPMG The Village Doctor, in the Hilton Village neighborhood of Newport News in 2003 to pursue his passion of offering personalized medical care focused on promoting a patient’s health and well-being through their lifetime.

Dr. Brady studied biology at the University of South Carolina and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his residency in Family Medicine through Greenville Hospital Systems, serving as Chief Resident in his final year, and was twice awarded for his ability to incorporate compassionate patient care with extensive medical knowledge and skill.

Following his residency, Dr. Brady joined the United States Air Force, serving as a staff physician at Langley Air Force Base and was awarded the United States Air Force Meritorious Service Medal for his service. In 1999, Dr. Brady left the Air Force and began practicing as a family medicine physician in the Tidewater area.

Dr. Brady is steadfast in his dedication to the medical profession and the community, evident through his service to multiple professional medical organizations and as an Assistant Professor for the Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Dr. Brady currently serves as the Board Chair of the American Board of Family Medicine and has held positions on various committees within the organization.  He is an active member of the Virginia Academy of Family Physician, the American Academy of Family Physician and Ideal Medical Practices, an organization in which he previously served as President and Secretary. In 2008, he received the honor of being selected as Virginia Family Physician of the Year.

Dr. Brady is well-known throughout the area as a compassionate, caring and personable physician. He is dedicated to offering his patients the education and care they need to achieve overall health and well-being.
