Initially drawn to the medical field by an interest in science, Josiah grew to appreciate the relational aspect of helping others. He enjoys getting to know his patients on a personal level, sharing his knowledge and experience, and aims to provide care that aligns with their personal health goals. As a physician assistant, Josiah believes the cornerstone of quality healthcare stems from a strong patient-provider relationship.
Prior to joining TPMG, Josiah gained clinical experience in a variety of fields including family medicine, internal medicine, critical care, and general surgery, among others. He provides care for young adults to geriatrics and treats a variety of conditions ranging from hypertension to arthritis. His special medical interests include preventative medicine, nutrition, and men’s health. As a former athlete, he values the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle and enjoys helping his patients stay active regardless of their age.
Josiah has a particular medical interest in treating chronic conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, and Hyperlipidemia. He finds many patients with these chronic conditions often feel overwhelmed and disheartened, but with encouragement and accountability from their provider, he believes they can experience an abundant state of living. He finds this aspect of healthcare to be very gratifying.
Josiah is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants (VAPA).
Outside the office, Josiah is an avid runner and enjoys numerous outdoor activities such as paddle boarding and playing soccer. He and his wife moved to the Hampton Roads area in 2019 and look forward to living close to the beach and staying active year-round.
