Kaylee Zapata, APRN, MSN, FNP-C, earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Liberty University in Lynchburg. Following her undergraduate program, she earned a Master of Science in Nursing through the Family Nurse Practitioner specialty track from Chamberlain University in Downers Grove, Illinois. Kaylee is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) with over a decade of experience. She joined TPMG Grafton Family Medicine in Yorktown in 2020.
When Kaylee was a child, her brother was placed in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) where she met a nurse who displayed an overwhelming amount of compassion and care for not only her brother, but the entire family. This was an influential moment in Kaylee’s life that sparked her interest in medicine and pursuing a career in nursing. As a family nurse practitioner, she believes in establishing a strong collaborative relationship with her patients in order to create the best possible health care strategy. She takes a holistic approach to health care, developing a care plan that takes into consideration the whole person – physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Prior to joining the medical field, Kaylee served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation ordnanceman on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. After her honorable discharge, she worked as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse where she gained experience in critical care.
Kaylee works with patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics and enjoys practicing family medicine for its medical diversity. She treats a wide variety of health conditions including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, as well as promoting healthy lifestyles and administering medical screenings. Kaylee is passionate about educating her patients on disease management and preventative care by encouraging healthier living through nutrition and exercise.
She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners (VCNP), the International Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau, and the Emergency Nursing Association (ENA).
Outside of the office, Kaylee loves going to the beach, staying active, and exploring the wide variety of scenery and cultures that make up Virginia. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their son, and their two Labrador Retrievers. Kaylee looks forward to building strong relationships with her patients and their families at TPMG.
