Kelly Murrer, MSN, WHNP, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, graduating Cum Laude. Following her undergraduate education, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in the field of Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP).
As a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Kelly believes the foundation for quality health care is built on kindness and hearing each patient’s individual needs. With more than a decade of experience in the field, she enjoys the opportunity to help women through all stages of life, addressing health concerns that are unique to them.
Before joining TPMG, Kelly gained clinical experience in various areas of obstetrics and gynecology, including contraceptive management, breast exams, the management of low and high-risk pregnancies, and ultrasounds. Kelly treats all conditions related to women’s health, including gynecologic exams, sexually transmitted disease (STD) screenings, contraceptive counseling, infertility, breastfeeding, and general gynecologic conditions. She has a particular interest in treating women during pregnancy and the postpartum period, feeling privileged to assist her patients during such a special and joyful time in their lives.
In addition to her care in the office, Kelly directs the Centering Pregnancy® program offered through TPMG Obstetrics and Gynecology in Newport News. Centering is a nationally known prenatal care program focused on education and support for expecting mothers and is designed to promote education, reduce preterm birth, and develop a community of social support among mothers through pre and postpartum stages. Kelly walks through the pregnancy period with a class of women every nine months, equipping them with all of the tools needed to experience a successful pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period. After each member of the group has given birth, the group gets together one last time for a reunion with their babies. Kelly enjoys being a part of the Centering program, finding the whole experience to be extraordinary.
Kelly is board certified by the Virginia Board of Nursing. She has been providing women throughout the Tidewater area complete obstetric and gynecologic care since 2008 and joined TPMG Obstetrics & Gynecology in 2015.
Outside the office, Kelly is an avid runner and enjoys spending time outdoors camping and hiking with her family. In her downtime, she also loves practicing her photography skills. Kelly welcomes new patients to schedule an appointment with her at the Newport News location.
