Dr. Kanter grew up in Virginia and married his high school sweetheart. They have five adult children. He enjoys mentoring students, supporting local artists, and spending time outdoors engaging in activities such as whitewater rafting, canoeing, hiking and bicycling.

In-Office Accredited Operating Room
Dr. Kanter’s office features an American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF) accredited operating room where he performs numerous procedures covered by insurance in a discreet and secure environment. Operations include breast reduction, facial skin cancer and skin lesion resection, functional eyelid surgery, nasal surgery, scar revision, and hand surgery procedures. Breast reconstruction and body contouring after extreme weight loss are also commonly completed in area hospital facilities. Consultations for procedures to treat confirmed pre-existing conditions are often covered by insurance with a specialist copayment. Consultations for cosmetic procedures are free of charge.
With the benefit of an in-office accredited operating room, Dr. Kanter is able to perform many procedures typically performed at a hospital or an ambulatory surgery center in this more cost-effective environment. The operating costs of an in-office operating room are much lower than hospitals.
Many options are available for anesthesia including local injections only, IV sedation, blocks, and general anesthesia. Many of the procedures performed by Dr. Kanter can be done under a local anesthetic; however, the most appropriate anesthetic option for a given procedure may vary with patient preference and/or procedure requirements. Dr. Kanter enjoys discussing the many options for cosmetic surgery in Hampton Roads with his patients during office consultations.
