From a young age, Mary knew she wanted to work in medicine. She realized early on that nutrition played as big a role as physical activity in maintaining health. Mary discovered the key to disease prevention and improved chronic disease management stems from maintaining a balanced diet. Helping patients improve their nutrition and overall health became Mary’s passion and she took every step to pursue it. She utilized her years of education to learn about all aspects of health, including wellness, nutrition, and fitness, and works to educate patients on the true meaning of “healthy living.”
As a registered dietitian in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, VA, Mary understands the unique needs of every patient are dependent upon the individual’s short-term and long-term goals. With this in mind, she tailors each plan specifically to that patient. Mary’s dietary health plan typically includes assessing patient needs, providing health information, building healthy habits, and working with patients to meet their improved health goals. Mary finds satisfaction in treating diabetes, cholesterol, heart disease, weight loss, and weight management. These common conditions can be treated and even prevented with proper diet and care.
She has remained true to her love of fitness by becoming a certified personal trainer, a group fitness instructor, and a yoga instructor. In her downtime, she enjoys participating in outdoor activities, such as swimming, playing soccer, biking, and hiking. She enjoys the Hampton Roads due to the large population, which provides her the opportunity to reach and help so many people in the community. Mary believes, “the patient always comes first.”
