Medha Joshi, MD, FACP earned her medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India in 2006. After completing residency in India, she moved to the US where she trained in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College, NY (internship) and Mercy Catholic Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA (residency). Since her board certification in Internal Medicine, Dr. Joshi worked as an internist for several years in Pennsylvania and Virginia. With her inclination towards metabolic disorders, she expanded her expertise in the field of Endocrinology by completing a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in 2021 from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. She is also board certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
As a supporter of education, Dr. Joshi served as a faculty member at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania, where she taught various aspects of internal medicine to residents and medical students. In fact, Dr. Joshi was awarded “Teacher of the Year: Best Attending in Medicine” for three consecutive years among other notable awards. She led multiple quality improvement projects and contributed to research with numerous peer reviewed publications and a book chapter. In addition to her academic work, Dr. Joshi took the initiative to organize annual events with the goal to share cultural diversity amongst people of different ethnicities.
Coming from a family of doctors, Dr. Joshi grew up watching both her parents practice medicine with compassion and skill. Her unique experience, combined with a desire to help people drew her to the medical field. Dr. Joshi aims to deliver quality healthcare by taking a systematic approach to clinical practice while incorporating the best and most recent evidence into her management. She partners with her patients to provide personalized medicine. She strives to provide the best possible care for her patients, using a holistic approach to treatment and is a strong advocate of promoting lifestyle changes.
Dr. Joshi treats adults with several conditions including diabetes mellitus type 1 and type 2, thyroid disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome, osteoporosis, calcium and vitamin D disorders and more.
When she isn’t seeing patients, Dr. Joshi enjoys spending time with her family & friends, cooking, yoga, and biking. She enjoys what Hampton Roads has to offer in terms of the great climate, family friendly community and lots of activities. She is particularly excited to be a part of a community with so much diversity and rich culture. TPMG warmly welcomes Dr. Joshi to TPMG Coastal Endocrinology in 2021.
