Accepting New Patients

Nicole Cook, PA-C, earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology as well as a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. She is board-certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Practicing medicine for over fifteen years, Nicole joined TPMG in 2019 and transitioned to TPMG Coastal Endocrinology in Newport News in 2026.

Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a child, Nicole was driven to pursue a career in medicine to help others dealing with chronic illness. Drawn to endocrinology by her personal experience, Nicole pursues her passion for managing Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, as well as menopause and perimenopause, thyroid disease, and obesity. As a physician assistant, Nicole enjoys the opportunity to educate her patients by providing monthly diabetes group classes.

Nicole uses a holistic approach to treatment and believes good health is achievable through simple lifestyle changes. When treating patients, she prefers to avoid medications only and focuses on discussion of alternate methods of management, including improved physical activity, proper nutrition, increased emotional health, and sleep quality. Nicole is dedicated to building long-term relationships and encourages her patients to take an active role in developing their treatment plans.

She is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) and previously served as a preceptor at James Madison University, Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), and Shenandoah University.

Before working as a physician assistant, Nicole conducted research at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) with the gastrointestinal department and assisted with research involving autonomic neuropathy and diabetes at the Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Diabetes Institute. She has also completed courses in functional medicine, a patient-centered approach that addresses the root cause of disease by investigating genetics, environment, lifestyle, and more.

Outside of the office, Nicole enjoys cooking and baking. She is married with two children and enjoys taking trips to the mountains or the beach whenever she has the opportunity. She and her family are actively involved in their local church.
