Nicole L. Tiefel, DNP, FNP-C earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Wisconsin in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 2012. She then pursued a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2014; followed by a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2020. A doctorate in nursing is the highest level of nursing with an emphasis on leadership in healthcare, evidence-based practice, and advanced training within the field.
A profession in nursing was always a lifelong goal for Nicole. Influenced by her grandmother, also a nurse, she sought to dedicate her life to restoring the health and well-being of her local community.
With a diverse background as a registered nurse, Nicole has worked in the Emergency Room, Rapid Response Team, and Level 1 Trauma Center ICUs. She was honored to have provided support to a critical care unit military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, where she cared for injured military members during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Additionally, she has prior clinical experience working in ENT, family medicine, and serving the underserved, non-insured population.
As a board certified family nurse practitioner, Nicole strives to deliver quality, compassionate care with a focus on health promotion and disease management. She treats patients of all ages – pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics – for acute and chronic conditions. She has worked with non-insured populations, patients living in remote areas, and those who are high-risk for hospital admission. This has given her great insight into managing the most vulnerable in the healthcare system. Nicole believes every patient deserves access to high-quality, evidence-based healthcare, tailored to meet their individual needs.
Nicole is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and has published several manuscripts for nursing journals. Most recently, she is working on a contribution for a physical assessment book for nurse practitioners.
Outside of the office, Nicole enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, camping, and going to the beach. Nicole and her husband are happy to have settled in Virginia, where they can enjoy all four seasons and easy access to the beach and mountains. TPMG Discovery Park Family Medicine in Williamsburg welcomed Nicole to the practice in 2021.
