Paris Cofield, FNP-C, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk and earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University.
Prior to working as a Nurse Practitioner, Paris served as a Registered Nurse at DePaul Medical Center, Patient First, and in the emergency room (ER) departments of Maryview Medical Center and Sentara Careplex Hospital. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Paris chose to pursue a career in nursing for the ability to offer individualized and compassionate care to her patients and believes in providing each patient with the highest quality of care. Fascinated by the complex systems of the human body, she enjoys the challenges the field of nursing offers.
As an ER nurse, Paris gained extensive experience providing care to patients with minor, acute, and critical injuries. Additionally, she coordinated care for triage patients ensuring they received the appropriate services needed in a timely manner.
Paris enjoys teaching and currently serves as a Registered Nurse Instructor for East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI) University teaching students hands-on instruction in a clinical setting and utilizing evidence-based practice. She has also worked as a preceptor to new nurses in the emergency nursing field.
Paris provides services for adult care, including vaccinations, well adult assessments, and acute services. She seeks to equip her patients with the knowledge and understanding of care by providing age-appropriate education in relation to health conditions and post-visit care.
In her spare time, Paris enjoys music, traveling, and reading. She joined TPMG – Rheumatology – Newport News in 2019 and practices alongside Kristi V. Mizelle, MD, MPH, FACR.
