Sarah Haggerty, PA-C, received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, Fitness, and Health from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Following her undergraduate studies, she received a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from James Madison University in Harrisonburg. Sarah is board certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has been practicing in the Hampton Roads community for the past eight years. She is certified to perform DOT physicals for her patients.

Prior to joining TPMG, she gained clinical experience working in military medicine as a primary care provider and worked in several urgent care facilities. With nearly a decade of experience, she treats a range of conditions from chronic illnesses and complex medical problems to routine health maintenance and disease prevention. Her special interests include mental health, specifically those suffering from anxiety and depression, women’s health, and acute care.

In her daily practice, Sarah follows a patient-centered, team-based primary care model. Fundamental to this approach is the belief that when a provider draws on the expertise of various health care providers, patients have expanded access to care, which fosters the delivery of optimal care. As a physician assistant, Sarah promotes the development of both physical and mental health, minimizing the need for medications. She believes patients can achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle when given the necessary guidance and resources.

Medicine is a rapidly evolving field, with emerging research changing the way health professionals treat and manage health conditions. With this in mind, Sarah continues to stay abreast on the latest advancements in medicine. She also enjoys teaching and has assisted precepting physician assistant and nurse practitioner students at various schools.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children. She also enjoys staying active swimming, biking, and running and has competed in numerous triathlons and marathons. Sarah warmly welcomes new patients to contact the office to reserve an appointment with her.
