Sarita Golikeri, MD, is a local family medicine physician certified in culinary medicine – an emerging field of medicine that seeks to prevent and manage chronic disease and promote healthy lifestyles through cooking.

The primary focus of Dr. Golikeri’s clinical practice is to help patient’s live healthy lifestyles through weight management and nutrition. In complement to this focus, she takes a special interest in preventive care in the young, and the young at heart, as well as the treatment of chronic disease including diabetes, hypertension, dementia, high cholesterol, asthma, and obesity.  Dr. Golikeri's motto is, "It is better to prevent trouble than to treat it."

Dr. Golikeri is board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Culinary Medicine through the Tulane School of Medicine Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. As a culinary medicine specialist, Dr. Golikeri consults with patients on the management and prevention of conditions like diabetes and high cholesterol through diet and nutrition. She also sees patients who are struggling to lose weight and those who are experiencing difficulty maintaining a healthy weight.

Dr. Golikeri earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Chicago and her medical degree at St. George's University in Grenada.  After medical school, Dr. Golikeri returned to her home state of New Jersey to complete her family medicine residency at Somerset Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.

After completing her fellowship, Dr. Golikeri moved to the Williamsburg area with her husband, Dr. Vijay Subramaniam, a pulmonologist with TPMG Lung and Sleep Specialists in Williamsburg, and began practicing medicine at Fort Eustis in Newport News, providing care for active and retired military personnel. She joined TPMG Colonial Family Medicine in 2014 and in 2019 opened her practice, TPMG Williamsburg Geriatrics & Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Golikeri enjoys sharing knowledge and guidance about living a healthier lifestyle, and is a practitioner of her advice, incorporating good nutrition and wellness practices into her daily routine and offers virtual cooking classes monthly.
