Susan V. Szulc, MD (pronounced Shultz), earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, graduating with honors. She also received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Computer Arts while attending the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Dr. Szulc went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk. Following medical school, she completed her residency training in internal medicine and participated in facilitative leadership training. She is board-certified in internal medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP). Dr. Szulc joins TPMG Beach Primary Care in Virginia Beach.

She has always had a passion for medicine and art. After postponing medical school to attend art school, she found that medicine fulfilled her mentally. Medicine constantly presents new challenges, with changes in new technologies, practices, and innovations. Dr. Szulc loves this evolving learning environment and has been practicing for over a decade.

As a board-certified primary care physician, she has learned all aspects of the medical field to deliver quality patient care and provide the highest level of knowledge. Over the years, Dr. Szulc has gained research experience in pediatrics, palliative care, and neuroscience. She has also made several medical presentations on topics such as cardiac health in women, obesity, disaster preparedness, and more. At TPMG Beach Primary Care, Dr. Szulc treats patients 18 years and older for a variety of conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disorders, and heart disease, among other conditions. She also completes routine physicals and general adult checkups. Although Dr. Szulc works to treat the body, she wants her patients to be mentally healthy as well. She believes you can’t fully treat the whole person unless you address all factors contributing to overall health and wellness. Dr. Szulc values the patient-physician relationship built on honest communication.

A Florida native, Dr. Szulc enjoys the opportunity to experience all four seasons now living in Virginia. Fall is her favorite season, but she gets overjoyed about the prospect of snow days. Apart from the weather, Dr. Szulc loves being near the beach and the mountains. When she is not in the office, she spends her free time gardening, fishing, hiking, caring for her chickens, and tending to her other love, art.
